- After the deadline for the presentation and review of allegations, the Ministry has approved the final project and is now in the tendering phase
The long-awaited roundabout in the San Carlos district of Redován is getting closer to becoming a reality. This was announced by the mayoress of the municipality, Nely Ruiz, who informed of the notification received by the Redován Town Hall from the Valencian delegation of the Demarcation of State Roads, which depends on the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda. This action plans to improve road safety in the area by upgrading intersections, reorganising accesses and treating this crossing, located between kilometre points 691 and 697 of the N-340 road in the section between the towns of Redován and Albatera.
The current project has a planned completion period of about six months and a base budget of 2,218,058 euros which, after having completed the period of presentation and review of allegations to it, is currently in the tendering phase of the works. In the same way, “the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda has instructed the Valencian Community Roads Delegation to begin the expropriation procedure for the land needed to build this roundabout,” Ruiz said.
This is an action that the different government teams of the Redován Town Council have been demanding for more than three decades through meetings with different bodies and authorities. The initial project for this roundabout was approved in 2016, after which it has suffered various delays and modifications, and will be paid for by the General State Budget. “This is great news for the municipality, both for our residents and for all those who use these roads every day to go to work or access the motorway”, said the mayor, “as it means the elimination of a historic black spot where, unfortunately, there is a high concentration of accidents”.
The mayor also indicated that “the Redován Town Council hopes that the Ministry can put these works out to tender as soon as possible so that they can begin”, as “as well as improving road safety on the road, these actions will also have a beneficial effect on the social and economic development of the San Carlos industrial estate and the neighbourhood of the same name”. Ruiz assured that the action will improve access for the companies located there and “of course, for the people who live in this area of Redován, who deserve to be able to move around their neighbourhood in complete safety, something they cannot do at the moment”.
