The Redován City Council has received in the last days 57,390 euros from the Alicante Provincial Council in concept of subsidies. These grants are aimed at various areas, ranging from the protection of the natural environment of the municipality, the promotion of the economic activity of businesses and entrepreneurs in the municipality, treatments against the proliferation of insects or the improvement of urban gardens.
The largest amounts to a total of 39,127 euros and will be used to minimize the impact of Covid-19 in SMEs, mycropymes, small companies and professional self-employed in the municipality that suspended their activity during the state of alarm or decreased their average turnover in the months of April and May compared to the previous semester. The grant will be aimed at defraying current expenses derived from the health crisis such as rentals, requests for consultancy and advice, interest on loans requested or the rental of commercial vehicles of companies established in the municipality. The bases of the aid are in the drafting process and will be published soon so that they can be requested by the merchants of the municipality.
Another of these grants, which amounts to a total of 7,653 euros, will be divided into two lines of action: the one aimed at supporting the holding of fairs and events in the municipality, which will subsidize 58.33% of the cost of the Christmas fair last year in Redován with 7,000 euros, and another of 653 euros for its economic promotion. Thus, they will be destined to pay for 90% of the course on food handlers, allergen management and security against Covid-19, aimed at working and unemployed personnel, which will take place on October 6 in the assembly hall of the Ricardo Ruiz Poveda sociocultural center.
The Redovanense Consistory will also receive all of the aid of 4,924 euros for the maintenance and conservation of natural areas of the municipality such as the Sierra de Redován, along with 2,540 euros (68.85% of the subsidy) to carry out control treatments of Diptera insects in its municipal area. Likewise, the provincial body has also awarded 3,145 euros to the City Council, from which 90% of the amount of the installation of banks and wastebaskets in the municipal urban garden will be subsidized.
The mayor, Nely Ruiz, wanted to acknowledge the work of the City Council workers, “who are the ones who, thanks to their work and dedication, carry out the application and processing to be eligible for these grants”, as well as thanking the collaboration to the Provincial Council of Alicante with its contributions, “which will be applied to help and improve the life and environment of the people of Redova as much as possible”.

- The City Council of Redován and the Association of Merchants of the municipality organize two days of activities to support local trade and products
The mayor of Redován, Nely Ruiz, accompanied by the councilors of Commerce and Tourism of the municipality, Maite Martínez and Clara Ezcurra, respectively, presented this morning the programming of the Trade and Gastronomy Fair, which will take place on Saturday 14 and Sunday December 15 in the Plaza de la Paz.
This is a new edition of the traditional Christmas Fair, “in which the neighbors of Redován can make their purchases for the Christmas holidays, while they know our customs and gastronomy typical of the area during these dates”, the mayor informed.
This fair is an initiative of the City Council, with the departments of Fiestas, Commerce and Tourism at the head and also has the collaboration of the Association of Merchants of Redován, as well as the Diputación de Alicante and Tourism Costa Blanca, Caja Rural Central and the construction group Zaragoza 2012. “The purpose is to strengthen and stimulate local commerce, reflected through the motto of the fair: for Christmas, buy in Redován”, added Ruiz. For his part, Maite Martínez, Councilor for Commerce, said that “we have been preparing it for a long time and it will be two days with a complete program, where all Redovans can enjoy activities for the whole family.”
In this way, the opening of this fair will take place on Saturday 14 from 4:00 p.m., which will be followed by workshops and children’s games throughout the day. In addition, dance and music performances will be carried out by the Redován Dance Association or the La Cochera group, with a concert starting at 10 pm.
On the other hand, on Sunday 15 from 10:30 hours, there will be more children’s games, workshops and inflatables for the little ones, who can also receive Santa Claus and also enjoy family magic shows, as well as the performance by the Rhythmic Gymnastics group of Redován. At 11:00 hours a demonstration will begin by local artisan butchers, “which will show the process of slaughter and elaboration of meat products and traditional sausages, and that will also be completed with a tasting of these high quality products so typical of these dates ”, explained Clara Ezcurra, mayor of Tourism.

The Plaza de Abastos de Redován has become beautiful to receive the Christmas season, one of the most outstanding each year for local commerce. The City Council has completed the reform of the market, a building of municipal ownership in which it has proceeded in recent weeks to adapt the toilets to people with reduced mobility and interior repainting, with a total investment of 6,795 euros.
The councilor of Markets, Ramón López Escarabajal, explains that “the 4,995 euros that have been allocated to works in public services come from a grant from the Provincial Council, while the Consistory has invested 1,800 euros more in the repair of the cover and the interior painting of the plaza.
