The ‘Challenge of Recycling’ launched by Ecoembes and that takes place in all the municipalities of the Vega Baja reached Redován yesterday. The campaign was installed in the Plaza Miguel Hernández and moved to the IES Jaime de Sant Ángel, where, as explained by the mayor, Emilio Fernández, “he has become aware of the need to preserve our environment, because it is a commitment to everybody”.
The ‘Challenge of Recycling’ is a competitive challenge that aims to increase the rates of recovery and recycling of the containers that are deposited in the yellow containers (cans, bricks and plastic containers) and blue (cardboard and paper). What is proposed is that the withdrawal of this type of waste will increase in the coming weeks by 20% in the municipalities that have accepted the challenge, as is the case of Redován, so that whoever achieves or exceeds this figure will have the opportunity to allocate 6,000 euros to a non-profit entity.
Emilio Fernández, accompanied by the Councilor for the Environment, Ramón López, and the councilors of Culture and Employment, Clara Ezcurra and Maite Martínez respectively, has received the van, from which promotional material and a bag of linen have been distributed for the bread “that I encourage our neighbors to use, because it avoids plastic and also keeps our bread in better conditions”. The mayor has made a reflection on the tons of paper and plastic garbage that are generated in our homes, and has pointed out that these materials “are used uselessly”, giving as an example the fact that “we do not take plastic bags in the supermarket and yet we print a kilometer ticket on paper, something that we throw away when the new technologies could perfectly send us the ticket to our mobile phone. ”
Of course, the councilor has encouraged the people of Cordoba to participate in the ‘Challenge of Recycling’ because “we have to go from thinking about using things and throwing them away to think about reducing waste and recycling”. In this way, he added that “with the efforts of all we could improve the environment and prevent garbage from being a problem”, while he reminded that next June 5 is World Environment Day “and that precisely the The UN is dedicating its campaign this year to the reduction of plastic waste, especially in the sea. ”

The Local Police of Redován will already be able to carry out alcohol tests with reliable results thanks to the incorporation of a breathalyzer that the City Council of Redova has acquired with an investment of 7,000 euros that was provided for in the municipal budget.
This device, of last generation, has been delivered to the police by the mayor, Emilio Fernandez, and the councilman of Public Safety, Ramon Lopez, who has pointed out that until now “it was counted on a breathalyzer that gave an orientative result, although now as we have a modern, and above all approved based on the requirements of the European Union, you can know the exact blood alcohol level presented by people who are submitted to the tests.
The breathalyzer (model Dräger Alcotest 7510ES) will be added to the equipment already available to the Local Police to carry out its maintenance work in Redován. At the beginning of this year two defibrillators were incorporated and installed in police vehicles to act in case of emergency, as López Escarabajal recalled.
With respect to the ethylometer, it will be used both in the routine controls that are carried out to verify, for example, that the vehicles circulate with the documentation in order or that those who drive them do not do it under the effects of drugs and alcohol, “as in specific blood alcohol controls that are put in place as of now since we already have the necessary equipment to be able to carry them out with all the guarantees, “the councilor concluded.

Redován 4/30/2018. At the moment it is a mystery, but little by little the details of a strange painting that appeared during maintenance works that have been carried out in the City Council of Redován will be discovered. The building, an ancient palace that served as residence for the Order of Preachers, was completed in 1726, and around that date the painting that has now been discovered on the roof is dated, a face that according to the mayor, Emilio Fernández , “The elderly attribute to Ridwan, a Moorish related to the origins of Redován, although there is no certainty about it.”
With respect to the authorship, “it is attributed to the masons who executed the roof,” explains Fernández, a part of the former Palace-Residence that has never been modified. The rest of the building has received modifications during its nearly three centuries of history, the first in 1968, when the work was begun to convert it into a Town Hall, and the second in 2000 to modernize its interior as it is known. nowadays. The work carried out now consisted in the repainting of the façade, and it was on going up with the machines when the curious painting was discovered.
The mayor admits that everything related to this face is “a mystery to be discovered” that will continue at the moment in the place it has occupied and where it has been maintained for nearly three centuries. “It has always been there in the open and it will continue there because it has never been covered with anything and the polychrome has remained,” says Fernández.
Who was Ridwan?
Abul Un’Aym Ridwan was a military vizier of the Nazari kingdom of Granada who carried out several attacks in the Vega Baja del Segura during the 14th century, including one at the Guardamar Castle. He chose Redován to install a space to shelter himself while allowing a quick escape to the Camino de Fortuna in case of having to flee, which motivated that in the nearby towns began to be called our town as ‘the place of the Reduan’ , where the current name comes from. Ridwan was born in Calzada de Calatrava and was first slave of the Muslims to later embrace their faith and become a prominent member of the Nazari Kingdom. Not only dedicated his life to the military, but also was a man lover of science and literature to which is attributed the creation of the first ‘madrassa’ or university in Granada.
