Workshops, storytelling, mats, a contest and the great costume parade are the activities that the Redován City Council has scheduled for next week on the occasion of the “Halloween” holiday in the municipality.
The mayor of the town, Nely Ruiz, accompanied by the Councilor for Culture, Clara Ezcurra, have been responsible for presenting this “terrifying” program, “in which, one more year, we try to make the children of the town enjoy and Have a fun and lively time, ”said the first mayor. “This is an American party but it has taken a deep breath among the youngest, and we want to offer leisure activities so that the children of Redován can have fun,” he added.
The activities will begin on Tuesday 29 with various craft workshops with Halloween themes, which will take place at 6:00 pm in the Municipal Library. For its part, and also at 6:00 p.m., on Wednesday, October 30, a scary storyteller will be held at the Ricardo Ruiz Poveda Social Center.
The main course of the activities will take place on Thursday, October 31, Halloween and Halloween, “where from 18:30, the traditional Pumpkin Contest will be held” in the Plaza de la Cruz ” , explained the Councilor for Culture, “with a lot of school material as a prize to the participants with the three best designs presented”. The neighborhood of San Carlos will not hold major events during its festivities next November in honor of San Carlos Borromeo. This was communicated by its district mayor, Encarna García, after a meeting with the neighbors. “This decision has been taken as a gesture of solidarity with the municipality of Redován,” said the mayor, “a town that had to suspend its management holidays due to flooding last September, in which a neighbor tragically lost his life ”.
For these reasons, it has been decided to carry out only with the religious acts, such as the Rosary of the Aurora, mass and procession in honor of San Carlos, which will take place on Sunday, November 17.
The residents of this district of Redován have also decided to dedicate the rest of the holiday budget to help and fix the damages caused by DANA in this municipality.
“We want to thank this gesture that the neighbors of the district of San Carlos have wanted to have with the victims of the “Cold Drop”” said Nely Ruiz, mayor of Redován. “This is a sample of a union that has always existed among our neighbors and, after the recent floods, which have caused so much damage between us, it is even stronger,” he added.

The management holidays in honor of the Virgin of Health of Redován began their journey last Saturday with the election and coronation of queens for this year 2019. Cristina Martínez Barberá is already the Queen of the Fiestas of the municipality, while Judith Espinosa Santos and Belén Cascales Manzano were chosen as Queen of Sympathy and Queen of Youth, respectively. In addition, the reading of the proclamation of parties, by Miguel Monera Martínez, put the finishing touch to the event that took place in the Plaza de la Paz, and that marked the beginning of a complete program of activities that will take place until next September 29th.
After the exhibition of grass and yarn made by the Barraca La Gramaera and the refreshing activities related to water that took place throughout Sunday, the programming of the festivities continues this week with the opening of barracks from 21:00 hours on September the 4th. Thursday at noon will be when joy and music will be on the streets of Redován thanks to the Charanga-Tapeo.
The Flower Offering will start on Friday, September 6 at 8:00 p.m. from Plaza Miguel Hernández, after which the shot of the Great Chupinazo will take place from the balcony of the City Hall in charge of the Festero de Honor, César Vegara Cuadrado, representative for Los Templarios. Upon completion, the Retreta will take place until the Plaza de la Cruz. Saturday will be the day to enjoy the General Parade of Peñas, Barracas and Queens from 9:00 p.m. starting at the Plaza de la Cruz and the Serenade to the Virgin of Health at the church of San Miguel at 00:30, with a special Verbena dedicated to the elders of the municipality in the courtyard of the Sacred Hearts school after its completion.
The week will conclude with the big day the festivities, the one dedicated to the patron saint, the Virgin of Health, on Sunday, September 8th. The day will begin with a solemn Mass in hes honor from 12:00 noon. In the afternoon, at 8:00 p.m., the procession dedicated to the Virgin will begin, with fireworks and Gran Verbena firing at the Plaza de la Paz at its end.

The municipality of Redován has kicked off its patron celebrations dedicated to the Virgin of Health and San Miguel, with the act of presenting its party book, which this year opens with the illustration of its cover “a window to Redován de la ilusión ”, as the author indicates, who prefers to remain anonymous, as explained by the mayor of the municipality, Nely Ruiz. The festive book brings together the most important events of the last year in the municipality, as well as stories, customs, anecdotes and stories provided by the neighbors.
Nely Ruiz thanked those responsible for the Department of Festivities for the work done for the preparation of the festivities, the first as mayor, who “who exceed the previous ones every year”, by proposing “leave a memory in the mind of the Redovans endearing and special ”. The mayor has emphasized the important weight that the festivities have in the municipality, inviting “all the towns in the region to come to Redován and spend with us these days of celebration, coexistence and tradition.”
Likewise, and as in previous years, the various campaigns aimed at avoiding situations of alcohol abuse, harassment or sexist attitudes, and urging the cleaning of public spaces during the celebrations have been highlighted. The “Talented” campaign encourages neighbors to enjoy the parties with responsibility and “without going over” with the drink, while the “You do not have my permission” campaign will raise awareness in the streets towards respect episodes of harassment or sexist violence, and it will be done by the volunteers who will wear an orange bracelet and who will help anyone who needs it.
In the same way, the mayor has presented “Mola tu gest, mola tu Acción”, a campaign that aims to keep Redován clean during the holidays.

Likewise, on Friday, September 20, at 8:00 p.m. and in the Francisco Ferrer square, an impromptu rap battle with 32 participants will be held, which will delight lovers of this style of music. It will be on the next day, Saturday, September 21, when the Multicolor Parade will take place, which will run from the Plaza de la Cruz to Francisco Ferrer Square, concluding with the performance of the “Patrol 66” group in the Plaza de la Paz.
On Sunday 22, the little ones will have the opportunity to enjoy children’s games and an exhibition of judo in this same location, while on the day of Friday 27, in Miguel Hernández square, we will listen to the concert of soundtracks, in honor of San Miguel. In the same way, and without abandoning the cinematographic theme, on Saturday the 28th all the redovanenses will be able to enjoy from the 22:00 hours the musical “Mamma mine” in the Plaza de la Paz.
The last holiday, and ending the program, will take place at 12:00 hours of the Mass dedicated to San Miguel, sung by the Manos Unidas choir, culminating with the procession and a great dawn in honor of the patron of Redován.

The Councilor for Culture of the City of Redován, Clara Ezcurra, has announced that the call for the National Pasodobles Contest ‘Villa de Redován’ is already open, which this year celebrates its second edition, and whose bases were approved by the Local Government Board The last friday.
Until September 30 at two in the afternoon, all those national and foreign composers residing in Spain may send their original and unpublished compositions in concert mode. A jury of three members of recognized prestige in the world of music will be in charge of choosing the four finalist pieces. The Musical Union of Redován, also organizer of the contest, will be in charge of interpreting the compositions that reach the final in a special concert that will take place on November 30 at the Antonio Ibáñez Serrano House of Music. Time in which the winning work will be determined.
The cash prizes amount to 1,500 euros in total, being 1,000 euros and a diploma for the first prize, whose piece will receive the name decided by the Musical Union of Redován, and 500 euros and a diploma for the second. The third and fourth prize will obtain nominative distinctions. In addition, the members of the Musical Union of Redován will grant one of the pasodobles a special mention by vote, which may or may not coincide with the decision of the specialized jury.
